5 FUNNY LAWS AROUND THE WORLD

  Laws of a country should be adhered to and most laws have penalties for breaking them. However, there are some laws around the world that are quite strange and a little humorous. Here is a list of 5 funny laws around the world;

●SWITZERLAND’S GOLDFISH RULE
Switzerland is well known for its strictness and dedication towards violation of animal cruelty laws. However, in 2008 Switzerland enacted a law that is against owning only one goldfish as it is considered inhumane isolation. Goldfishes are known for their intelligence and high retentive memory. They love interacting with each other therefore it seems like a punishment to keep them alone. There are also other animals covered by this law like the Guinea Pigs and the Budgerigars. As for the Guinea Pig, there are even companies responsible for pairing them up with partners and replacing them in case one of the partners die.

●MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE’S NO SPITTING RULE
According to their act, anyone found guilty of spitting anywhere except inside a drain is liable of a fine of RM 100. Singapore is famous for its unusual laws but most of them are aimed towards keeping the country clean. Once, a man was identified as a perennial spitter in Singapore and was charged 430 Euros and jailed for 5 weeks.

●RUSSIA’S CAR RULE
In Chelyabinsk and Moscow in Russia it is illegal to drive a dirty car. It is in fact liable to a fine of 500 Roubles. On deeper studies, it is illegal to drive a car where the registration number is not visible due to the number plate being dirty. What a great place to start up a car wash business.

●ENGLAND’S MUTE SWAN RULE
Most animals have nobody to speak on their behalf, not the mute swans though. All the mute swans of England are properties of the queen of England and she is the only one permitted to kill and eat them. Under the wildlife and countryside act of 1981, mute swans are protected and violating the law attracts a huge penalty of 5,000 Euros as a fine or up to 6 months in prison.

●ITALY’S ANTI-DEATH RULE
Now death is one of the few things that cannot be controlled by anyone, but in at least two cities in Italy, it is illegal to die. If residents of these cities fail to take preventive measures by getting an annual health check up, they will be fined 10 Euros per year. This is quite helpful for the aging population as it has driven more people to sign up for their health checks and possibly increased longevity in this cities.
